He has over twenty-five years of experience in property investment, lettings and business management in the United Kingdom.

John previously ran his own marketing company here in Birmingham, followed by years of experience in the lettings industry. Property sourcing, project management, renovation, extensive local knowledge and statistics are areas where he can help clients.

Genie Homes, based in Birmingham and the Black Country, are the areas most dedicated HMO and letting enthusiasts. Combining 50 years of property experience and an intimate knowledge of Birmingham's single let, HMO and social care letting scenes, we go the extra mile to provide a quality service for investors, landlords and our tenants.

Situated in Longbridge, we have a team of knowledgeable and driven staff that cover all corners of the Birmingham market. Whether it's booking a viewing, asking for help with your portfolio or checking your property is fully compliant with up to date legislation, no task is too small.

Working in the professional lettings market our aim is to provide tenants with the highest quality accommodation in the sector. Genie Homes property management offers a fully managed service to our clients that includes your own dedicated property manager and a full-time maintenance manager to ensure that you, your property and your tenant are in good hands.

Our negotiators are trained to be proactive when looking for good quality tenants.  As landlords ourselves we know how important it is to avoid “void” periods.  Our negotiators will:

  • Accompany all viewings

  • Organise Inventories

  • Organise Gas and electrical checks

  • Credit check and take up references on potential tenants

  • Keep you informed along the way regarding interest in your property


Our marketing is both on and offline.  We use a range of web sites and local press to advertise your property to best effect.

Your dedicated property manager will ensure that your tenant has signed all the appropriate paperwork and paid their deposit before meeting them at the property to do a thorough check in and go through the inventory.  They will:

  • Check in the tenant and go through the inventory

  • Register and renew the deposit with the DPS

  • Inform the utility suppliers, if applicable, that a new tenant has taken the property

  • Collect rents and ensure that a report is sent to you at the end of every month

  • Liaise with you and our maintenance department with regards to any repairs deemed necessary

  • Carry out quarterly inspections and send you a report outlining any concerns or repairs required

  • Renew tenancy agreements according to your instructions

  • Carry out a full property inspection and inventory review at the end of the tenancy


Our maintenance team will liaise with your property manager to ensure that all works carried out on your property are undertaken, quickly, safely and within budget.  Your tenant will have dedicated 24hr access to our online repair reporting system to help protect your property around the clock and save you money. Our software resolves 17% of issues through its built-in advice reducing the requirement for call outs and unnecessary vests by our maintenance team. Additionally, they will have a direct contact to our 24hr emergency team to ensure that there is no delay especially where urgent work is required.
